If you want to have a tremendous year and set yourself up for success, then you need to keep this mindset: get comfortable with the idea of failure and mistakes.
Guess what we're going to do sometime in the next year? We're going to make mistakes. We can either view these mistakes as failures, tragedies, or a final result. Or we can view them as opportunities to course correct, get better, and receive feedback. Failures give us feedback so that we can get better and move forward.
Many people are so desperately adverse to making a mistake, of looking bad, of feeling humiliated that they want everything to go perfectly. But when everything goes perfectly, you don't course correct or grow very much. Yes, we want to do better, improve, and reduce the number of tragic mistakes, but don't view the mistakes as something that is tragic for you. View them as something that you can learn from.
So, in this coming year, make more mistakes. Do something that might be embarrassing. Get out of your comfort zone, and challenge yourself. Through those experiences, you're going to learn and grow so long as you continue with the mindset that there are no good or bad experiences, there's only learning experiences. The mindset that you never lose, you either win or you learn. The mindset that mistakes are your best friends. Do that, and you'll do fine.
It's not always going to be perfect, and that's fine. All of us have grown to a certain level because of the thousands of mistakes we've made that have brought us to this level and will take us to the next one. So, go make some mistakes when finding prospects, when inviting, in follow up, etc. Then get better. Use those mistakes as a tool to improve, get wiser and smarter, and to make this the best year of your life.
